Import items from CSV

Add existing unique items on hand to the app's database in bulk

To access the feature, enable the "Inventory and Sold Items" tracking method in the app's settings

Steps

1. Navigate to the Inventory items page in the embedded app

2. Click Import at the top right of the page

   
3. Edit the import CSV file, according to the required format. To check a valid example, click Download sample CSV.

4. Click Add file and select the CSV file or drag & drop the file onto the square drop zone.

   
5. Click Import items at the bottom right of the modal

   
6. Once finished, you should receive the import summary to your Shopify user's email address. Successfully imported items should appear on the Inventory items page (page refresh may be required).

   

Tips

1. Start off with a small number of items initially

2. The "Product variant" column should contain a unique and searchable reference, e.g. a full product variant's name as displayed in the app (i.e. product name or product name - variant name), SKU, ID, barcode, etc.

   1. To ensure the "Product variant" reference in the CSV file is unique and searchable, enter the reference, surrounded by quotes, into the search bar on the Shopify admin Inventory page (ensure the product variant is available in the selected location) or the app's Product preferences page. Only one product variant should be found.

      

3. For each product variant to be imported, ensure the combined quantity on hand across all locations is greater than or equal to the sum of the number of items to be imported and the currently tracked number of inventory items in the app. Items over the quantity limit will be skipped and reported.

4. Serial numbers and custom fields are comma-separated and assigned to items based on position from left to right, i.e. the first serial number and the first <your custom field> are assigned to the first item, the second serial number and second <your custom field> are assigned to the second item, etc.

5. Items can also be line-separated, i.e. one product variant reference, serial number and <your custom field> per row.
