# Add customers to the POS cart

The POS UI extensions are recommended. They work with app-generated barcodes (e.g. [the mobile wallet passes](/barcodify-customer-selector/getting-started/share-app-generated-barcodes-with-customers.md)) and existing "custom" barcodes ([the ones synchronised with the app](/barcodify-customer-selector/getting-started/synchronise-merchant-issued-custom-barcodes-with-the-app.md)).

### "Add customer" extension

1. Add the new POS UI extension to the Smart Grid. This step is only needed once.

2. Open the POS UI extension and simply scan your customer's barcode/QR code using your barcode scanner.

### "Add customer via camera"

This a new POS UI extension, almost identical to the above "Add customer" extension. It opens the camera automatically - no need to press the "Open camera" button after loading the extension. Great for when a dedicated barcode scanner is not available.

The setup is exactly the same, just add the "Add customer via camera" extension to your POS smart grid.
