Enter barcodes in POS

A simple way to enter and test a small number of custom barcodes from the POS customer profile page.

This functionality is also available in the Admin version of the app. Learn more.

Add the "Custom barcode" POS block extension

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Point of Sale.

  2. Click Settings, and then in the General section, click POS apps.

  3. Click the "Custom barcode" with the logo of "Barcodify - Customer Selector".

  4. In the Additional areas section, click Add.

Use the "Custom barcode" POS block extension

Once added, the extension is available at the bottom of POS customer profile page. To update the customer's barcode,

  1. Click "Edit" on the right of the "Custom barcode".

  2. Type in or scan the customer's barcode with the device's camera ("Scan" button on the right of the text input field) or the barcode scanner.

  3. Tap "Save" (top right). Once saved, the modal will close automatically.

Unfortunately, after updating the barcode, the new value isn't automatically updated on the block. This is a known issue and can be ignored. If the "Custom barcode" modal closes automatically after the save, the value was successfully updated.

To double-check that the value was indeed updated, tap "Edit" again or reopen the customer's profile page.

Test

To test that the newly updated barcode is recognised, try adding the customer with the barcode into the POS cart.
